“As a small independent bar group, we do feel a hit at the start of the year,” says Tom Jackman, director of the Northcote, Venn Street and Old Street Records bars in London. In January people are naturally recovering from the over-indulgence of Christmas, he explains, and have less cash to splurge on nice dinners, bottles of wine and going out.
